European destinations from famous movies to visit this fall

In this article we invite you to visit the European destinations that have hosted famous films such as Chocolate, Pride and Prejudice or Harry Potter. Everywhere in Europe you will find us with the right car for your trip on the set!

Chocolat (France)

The film was set in the Burgundy area of France, whose capital is Dijon. Enjoy their famous Pinot Noir while admiring the historic castles, some of which have been transformed into luxury hotels. In the well-known film, the buildings of the medieval village of Flavigny-sur-Ozerain become the stars of the film. You can also take a tour of the textile museum and ancient churches.

Enchanted April  (Italy)

You can have a wonderful April, or a memorable walk in any other month in Portofini, Italy, the place where “Enchanted April” was filmed. Castello Brown, a 15th century castle, hosted this film. Once in Portofino, you can visit the Brown Castle, transformed into a museum, you can take a boat trip on the Mediterranean Sea, you can visit the medieval monastery of San Girolamo (from the 13th century) or you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the gardens of the beautiful Italian city.

To Catch a Thief (France)

Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, the protagonists of the film, invite us to visit the French Riviera, the place where the production was filmed. Le Bar-sur-Loup and Tourettes-sur-Loup are first on the list to visit, followed by Beausoleil Alpes-Maritames. For a special experience, we invite you to visit the Principality of Monaco, the place where Grace Kelly became a princess just one year after the release of the film.

Pride & Prejudice (England)

The 2005 production was filmed entirely in Derbyshire, in central England. Here you will find Chatsworth House, where you can see the fresco in Mr. Darcy’s house. Once here, you can visit the city of Derby (Church of the Cathedral of All Saints) and the Derby Museum and Art Gallery.

Harry Potter (England)

While these films have been filmed across the UK, some of the most popular locations in Harry Potter films are in Scotland. The lake outside Hogwarts School was filmed at two lakes – Loch Morar, which is supposed to have a fantastic monster called Mogar haunting it and Loch Shiel, very attractive due to the birds that visit it often. Take the Jacobite steam train over the Glenfinnan viaduct in Scotland, which served as the setting for the Hogwarts train.

Mamma Mia! (Greece)

This comedy was filmed on the small island of Skopelos in Greece. Take the ferry to Skopelos and stay on Kastani beach, where much of the film was filmed.

In addition, a small village in the northeastern part of the Pelion Peninsula, known for its mountainous landscape, was used for filming.

In Bruges (Belgium)

This dark thriller-comedy presents everything that has Bruges more beautiful. This film, which is centered around two assassins who are stranded in Bruges, was shot almost entirely in Belgium.

You can stay at the Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce Hotel, which is very much featured in the movie. In addition, be sure to visit the Bruges Bell Tower and the Groeninge Museum, which have been the scene of many beautiful photographs.
