Valentine’s Day getaway – a nature adventure!
After a season full of peace and relaxation, what could be more enjoyable than… a little fun? If during the holidays you’ve been cautious and practiced physical distance, maybe now you’d like to go out with your significant one but have no idea where. It’s okay! We come to your rescue! We have prepared a whole itinerary with special and unexpected places, suitable for Valentine’s weekend and not only…
WE’RE OFF TO ILFOV!
(32 km from Bucharest)
From the famous Lake to the Snagov Forest, Balotesti is full of perfect locations for couples who want to enjoy nature and at the same time the vast history of Romania.
The Cernica Monastery, surrounded by a splendid view, was built in the 17th century by Radu Serban, was founded by Michael the Brave, and is one of the most famous tourist attractions in this region.
One of the top locations is also Edenland Park, open to all those who want a quiet mini-vacation in the middle of nature. You’ll be surrounded by a huge forest, away from the noise of the city, and – the best part – you have your cottage, just like in the stories (and there is even a cottage called “The Cottage in the Stories”). But you won’t be alone! A host of animals, from goats and squirrels to llamas and camels will be there ready to greet you.
WE MAKE A STOP AT BRASOV
(170 km from Bucharest)
We can not fail to mention Brasov, one of the most beautiful cities in Romania. The Black Church is on the top of the list when it comes to tourist attractions: it is one of the few churches with Gothic architecture in Romania, and its construction lasted over 100 years!
If you want to stop by near Brasov we highly recommend you to visit Sforii Street – one of the narrowest streets in Europe, but quite comfortable for a walk for two. Originally it was built especially for firemen, being mentioned for the first time in documents dating back to the 17th century.
Other attractions? The White Tower and the Black Tower, which are located right at the base of the mountain, Solomon’s Stones, and last but not least the Weavers’ Bastion!
THE NEXT PLACE ON THE ITINERARY IS HARGHITA!
(290 km from Bucharest – Bicazului Valley, Red Lake Saint Ana Lake, Salt Mines – shall we continue? Harghita is full of perhaps more than enough wonderful natural landscapes to rekindle your desire to explore! The Salt Mines are renowned for their medical benefits and are truly a once-in-a-lifetime wonder of Romania, and the Red Lake offers a formidable landscape.
If you want to stop for a little break, the futuristic-style cottages in Hunnia are perfect for you! This complex is located in Vlahita, Harghita, and all the cottages are built around an Asian restaurant for all the food lovers.
… AND WE STAY IN ALBA IULIA
(353 km from Bucharest)
… speaking of walks and hikes – have you ever been to the Scarisoara Glacier? If not, you really must! It is one of the most interesting places in Romania, the oldest ice dating back almost 4,000 years.
If you prefer art and more elegant places, the Alba-Carolina Citadel and the National Museum of Unirii are perfect for you and your loved one.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST IS CLUJ!
(490 km from Bucharest)
Capital of culture, and rightly so! Cluj is one of those places that will always remain in your heart. The famous Hoia forest is famous for its paranormal activities, so if you and your better half love horror movies or suspense, it’s worth seeing.
Alexandru Borza Botanical Garden, St. Michael’s Church, Cetatuia Park, and Ethnographic Museum are some incredible places to visit; if you haven’t had the chance yet, come with us, let’s go & sightsee!
