Romania’s winter destinations

With the first snow we start weaving plans for a mountain getaway and we remember once more about the ski equipment that we promise every year that we will take out more often on the slopes. And if we have not invested in a sports equipment, we know for sure that we can rent a suitable one from the slope.

Poiana Brasov

Probably the most famous mountain resort in Romania, Poiana Brasov has benefited in the recent years from major investments in the infrastructure, the cable transport facilities (cable cars, gondolas and ski lifts) and in the accommodation capacity. Recently, Poiana Brasov was placed on the first place in the Top of Mountain Resorts for all categories included in the study (resort suitable for families, the best restaurants, suitable for children, for couples and youth along).

Located at an altitude of 1030 m, Poiana Brasov is prepared for all types of tourists, for which it has prepared 12 ski slopes (an Olympic slope, a downhill slope and a huge slalom slope), numerous areas for sledding and a slope with night skiing facilities. For a memorable experience we recommend you to visit the resort in a sleigh pulled by horses.

For the little ones and for those who are still unfamiliar with the winter  sports, the Ski & Snowboard School in the resort, with an experience of over 40 years by now, offers private or group courses.

Poiana Brasov is located at 12 km from Brasov and 3 hours drive from Bucharest, from where you can rent a car from the Enterprise’s Otopeni office.

Paltinis

Placed at 1442 m altitude, Paltinis is the first recorded mountain resort in Romania. The resort is located at 25 km from Sibiu, in the Southern Carpathians, at the foot of the Cindrel Mountains. Positioning at this altitude favors the practice of several winter sports for almost 6 months. If you want to learn a new winter sport, you can use the services of the professional ski instructors present in the resort. The mountain trails are prepared for passionate hikers as well as for the beginners. The resort is served by chairlift, ski lift and baby-lift installations.

Arieseni

Arieseni is located in the Apuseni Mountains, at about 3 hours from Targu Mures and 4 hours from Timisoara. The resort located at 1000 m altitude is preferred by tourists from the western part of our country. The area has 4 natural slopes arranged for winter sports, with ski lifts and a night installation. The ski season is open for about 6 months. If you choose this area for your winter vacation, we recommend you to visit the Bear Cave, the Ponor Fortress, Rosia Montana or Scarisoara Glacier. Vatra Dornei

Also known as the “Pearl of Bucovina”, Vatra Dornei is preferred by tourists from the north of the country. The resort is located 112 km from Suceava, at 802 m altitude, in the Dornelor Depression. The ski slopes arranged in this resort can be accessed with several ski lifts, baby-lifts. Plus, you can pay a visit to Dealul Negru Peak with the 3 km chairlift. You can also find us in Suceava, where you can rent an Enterprise fleet car.

Sureanu

The Sureanu ski area is positioned between Alba and Hunedoara counties, at 4 hours from Timisoara and 2 hours from Sibiu. The resort is located between the Sureanu peak of 2059 m altitude and the Patru peak of 2130 m altitude. At this moment the ski slopes (10 arranged slopes – a total of ~ 14,500 m length) are equipped with 2 ski lifts and a chairlift. The area is preferred by snowboard and freeride lovers. The domain is also known as “Western Switzerland” due to the panoramic points to the Sureanu Mountains. Rent a car from our office in Sibiu and start a weekend getaway.
